St. Thomas Aquinas (1224-1274) was a Dominican preist, theologian, and philosopher. He developed rational arguments for the existence of God.
First Way: The Argument from Motion
He studied Aristotle, and thought objects were put in motion by some other object or force. He thought God was the mover
1. Nothing can move itself.
2. If every object in motion has a mover, then the first object in motion needed a mover.
3. This first mover is unmoved mover called God.
Hey look, I just lifed my arm. God has nothing to do with it, but my brain did ooooooo.
Second Way
He concluded that common sense observation tells us that no object created itself. Something had to have created it. God began the chain of existance.
1. There exist things that are caused by other hings.
2. Nothing can be the cause of itself
3. There can not be an endless string of objects casing other objects to exist
4. Therefore, there must be an uncaused first calle God.
Yes, there can be an endless string of objects causing other objects to exist, ever heard of reproduction?? lol
Third Way
This way defines two types of objects in the universe: contigment beings and necessary beings. A contingment being is an object that can not exist w/o necessary being causing its exitsane
1. Contingent beings can be contigent
2. Not every being can be contingent
3. There must exist a being which is necassary to cause contignet beings
4. This necessary being is God
hmm, well he just said everything has a creator, and in number 2 he said not every being can be contignet.
Fourth Way
Opinions.
Fifth Way
obersving the universe an nature.
Well the best one would at least have to be the fifth one. Because of course the universe works in a way that one can conclude taht is designed by an intelligent designer. Well if you think about, "something" must have created everything. I mean how can things just randomly pop out of no where. I mean if you are walking down the street you don't see a unicorn being born out of no where, or some random person
The worst is the fourth, because in vh1 they had this show called the top 100 greatest hard rock songs and Guns N Roses-Welcome to the Jungle was number 1, i mean thats a great song and it was in Grand Theft Auto. But then I thought either Motley Crue or Def Leopard or ACDC should have been number 1. But then that was my opinion. I mean things can be better than the other, but in a way, its equal, not in our eyes, but it really is. I mean of course not everyone likes what eachother likes, we might share simularities, but differences as well. Again, i think everything is equal, we just see it in our own perspective.
